I have been a musician for most of my life, but I started to study music in a much more focused manner as a writer over the past few years. I grew up loving music. I also grew up playing video games and still feel that certain games provide a constant source of inspiration from the composers and how they help drive the stories along in the games I played.
I started playing guitar in 2005 during the summer break between seventh and eighth grade. I spent my entire summer learning songs that were far out of my comfort zone and learning the basics of scales and how songs are structured. I listened to a lot of metal (and still do) so the songs took quite some time to really sound like actual music. After 17 years, I still get excited when I hear a new piece of music that inspires me to create. I also love to take those songs and break down what exactly is happening in the music that gets me feeling that way. Over the course of my life with music I picked up piano, bass, and singing, though guitar still remains the instrument I am most comfortable with.
I received my Associate’s Degree in Sound Recording Technology from Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan back in 2019, after coming home from serving in the United States Navy several years prior. The classes and professors I met during my time at Schoolcraft helped me immensely in becoming the composer I am today. I loved the program because it not only gave me the necessary skills to become comfortable knowing my way around a DAW and the technological side of things, but also the inclusion of music theory, keyboard and sight singing classes. I am currently working towards my Bachelors at the Berklee College of Music in the Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games program.
I have had two full albums and one EP released on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, (and all streaming services) along with some covers from games and film. During this process I realized that as much as I love working with music technology, my true passion and love comes from writing and composing music. My ultimate goal has always been to write for movies, TV, video games and all kinds of media, though my soft spot has always been for games. I have a body of work that is constantly growing and love when I play a new game that inspires me to not only play, but learn more about composing. I will always consider myself a student when it comes to music, and I love that there is always more to learn when it comes to this craft!
